This is just a tutorial on how to drift 11 years later when the game came out. I've used a racing wheel and xbox 360 controller both are fine and do the job. Tap the brake and steer hard. When transitioning, tap brake again and steer hard to the opposite side. Transitioning can be done without tapping the brake, but you need a powerful car (or a good tune) to pull it off - best to just tap the brake. If you need to take a sharp turn, tap both brake and handbrake at the same time.

If you want to powerslide just for fun, crank the steering wheel and hit the handbrake / e brake. well there IS a way to drift: use handbrake (do not let go of the accelerator) and turn left/right, as soon as the car starts turnin, let go of the handbrake (keep acceleratin) and and steer to the opposite side a little, not completely or your car
